GeoEye, provider of satellite and aerial photos, has unveiled exclusive images from the GeoEye-1 satellite free of charge on the corporation's Web site.
The GeoEye-1 produced color photos of the inaugural celebration from 423 miles above the National Mall during the swearing-in ceremony.
The pictures were taken as the satellite traveled from north to south at about 17,000 mph — or four miles per second, according to GeoEye.
The 4,300-pound satellite was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Sept. 6, 2008.
