Coffee Break

A man was arrested after a government agent allegedly found him in an office building restroom lying next to an inflatable, anatomically correct doll with his pants down.

Craig S. McCullough, 47, was charged Wednesday with indecent exposure, a misdemeanor.

The criminal complaint against McCullough says he was discovered in the public restroom by an agent for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, which is one of the federal agencies that rents space in the Hach office building.

McCullough's criminal record includes a 2004 conviction for burglarizing Just For Me bridal boutique. Shortly after the burglary, police officers found McCullough in a nearby alley, carrying a mannequin wearing a bridal dress.

Bigfoot or Neeren?

The Bigfoot sighting happened near the town of Ridgeway, in the Allegheny National Forrest, which is about 115 miles north of Pittsburgh.

The Bigfoot frenzy got started when a hunter took a few pictures by a camera with an automatic trigger.

The image showed a furry creature that walked on all fours.
The Bigfoot research organization said it believes it's a baby Bigfoot.
Others aren't so sure.

Concrete Jungle

Using a video camera and raw chicken, state officials hope to learn whether the king of the jungle is prowling the woods of West Virginia.

Bow hunter Jim Shortridge believes he saw a full-grown, male African lion weighing between 250 and 300 pounds at the foot of Cold Knob Mountain earlier this month. The state Division of Natural Resources confirmed that at least one other person has reported seeing the lion.

Twenty pounds of raw chicken left on the site last week were devoured, but McClung said that doesn't prove the lion's existence.

"Anything could have eaten that," he said.

British marine biologists have found what may be the oldest living animal — that is, until they killed it.

The team from Bangor University in Wales was dredging the waters north of Iceland as part of routine research when the unfortunate specimen, belonging to the clam species Arctica islandica, commonly known as the ocean quahog, was hauled up from waters 250 feet deep.

Only after researchers cut through its shell, which made it more of an ex-clam, and counted its growth rings did they realize how old it had been — between 405 and 410 years old.

Another clam of the same species had been verified at 220 years old, and a third may have lived 374 years. But this most recent clam was the oldest yet.

Golden Gate-way Drug

Arnold Schwarzenegger told the British edition of GQ magazine that he had not taken drugs. The former bodybuilder and Hollywood star has acknowledged using marijuana in the 1970s and was shown smoking a joint in the 1977 documentary "Pumping Iron."

"That is not a drug. It's a leaf," Schwarzenegger told GQ. "My drug was pumping iron, trust me," he added.

In an interview for the magazine's December issue, Schwarzenegger refused to condemn politicians who declined to answer questions about drug use.

"What would you rather have? A politician taking stuff and not saying, but making the best decisions and improving things? Or a politician who names all the drugs he or she has taken but makes lousy decisions for the country?" Schwarzenegger was quoted as saying.

"A politician's job is to do what's best for the people and to improve the country, the economy, the environment. Why should I care if a politician takes sleeping pills every night so long as he can do his job?"

Got Any Vodka?

Two burglars probably wish that they wiped their feet. Police who responded to an alarm about 1:20 a.m. on Thursday at the Athens Beverage Company followed a trail of muddy footprints from the store to a room at the Budget Inn.

They arrested Adam Wayne Blankenship, 23, and Robert Taylor Williams, 35, after finding a pair of muddy shoes that matched the footprints and four bottles of vodka in the room.

Blankenship and Williams, who both lived at the Budget Inn, were charged with third-degree burglary. They were being held in the Limestone County Jail.

Mommy Dearest

A woman who had her 13-year-old daughter's genitalia pierced to make it uncomfortable for her to have sex was acquitted of aggravated child abuse on Thursday.

The girl, now 16, had testified that her mother asked a friend in 2004 to shave the girl's head to make her unattractive to boys and later held her down for the piercing.

A jury deliberated for about three hours before deciding the mother's actions didn't involve punishment or malicious intent, or cause permanent damage or disfigurement.

"She was trying to protect me, but it hurt me," the girl testified earlier this week. "It not only hurt me physically, but it hurt me mentally. ... That's emotionally scarring. That's physical abuse."

Prosecutors said the mother called on a friend to shave the girl's head and do the piercing after realizing that she had been having sex, including with the mother's boyfriend.

"They killed Anniversary..."

A miniature horse given to a boy with brain cancer by the Make-A-Wish Foundation was killed by a pair of pit bulls who were found roaming in his yard, authorities said.

The 31-inch tall horse, Anniversary, was donated by the foundation to 3-year-old Christian Vasquez in late August.

Christian, who was diagnosed in January with a malignant form of brain cancer, received a pull cart, a blanket, a halter and a bridle set from the foundation on Saturday, said Jelaine Workman, executive director for the foundation's Amarillo chapter.

Two days later, Anniversary was found dead on his property in Pampa by Christian's father, Raul Vasquez.

The father was nearly attacked by the dogs but managed to climb a tree and call 911 on his cell phone. "I was scared to death," said Raul Vasquez, 41. "They killed Anniversary, and I thought they would kill me too."

It was unclear how the dogs entered the property, which is surrounded by a 4 1/2-foot-high fence.

'Me Want Food!'

A troop of monkeys has been making "lewd signs" at women and children trying to harvest crops south of Nairobi.

The monkeys in the Kabete area even earned a mention in parliament last month when the local MP Paul Muite said his constituents feared the monkeys would sexually harass them.

"These creatures have clearly shown that they have no respect for women."

Gichuki Kabukuru, a spokesman for Kenya Wildlife Service, said it was well known that monkeys and baboons have a penchant for harassing women rather than men, and even gesturing at them and touching their own private parts.

The monkeys reportedly appear at dawn. According to locals, the animals have become so aggressive that women have taken to dressing up like men, wearing trousers and long-sleeve shirts.

The animals steal so much food that there has even been a food shortage.

Miracle Dog Feeds 68

Sixty-eight villagers in northern Namibia were hospitalized last week after eating a dog that had been killed by disease, the local daily The Namibian reported Wednesday.

The paper said the dog's owner had killed it after it contracted an unknown skin disease and ordered it to be burned. Instead, the inhabitants of Oikokola village insisted on eating the meat, which was also shared with people from the nearby Onepandaulo village.

Naftali Hamata, the director of health for northern Namibia, said the villagers were treated at two of the area's major hospitals and that most had recovered. He warned against eating dog meat or the carcass of any sick animal.

Dog meat is considered a delicacy among tribes in northern Namibia, and calls by animal rights organizations to end the practice are ignored.

SUX

City leaders have scrapped plans to do away with the Sioux Gateway Airport's unflattering three-letter identifier , SUX , and instead have made it the centerpiece of the airport's new marketing campaign.

The code, used by pilots and airports worldwide and printed on tickets and luggage tags, will be used on T-shirts and caps sporting the airport's new slogan, "FLY SUX."

It also forms the address of the airport's redesigned Web site , http://www.flysux.com.

Gu Gu

The 15-year-old had jumped over a 4-foot, 7-inch barrier surrounding an outdoor exercise area for pandas on Monday afternoon while 8-year-old Gu Gu and another bear were being fed.

The teen startled 240-pound Gu Gu, who bit the unwanted visitor on both legs, said Zhang, the director of the zoo management office.

The Beijing News identified the teen as Li Xitao, citing emergency medical officials who said he was so viciously attacked that his bones were showing. Chunks of flesh were left behind in the ambulance, they said.

Gu Gu was in the news last year when he was bitten by a drunk tourist. The man jumped into the bear's pen and tried to hug him, but was bitten instead. The tourist retaliated by biting the bear in the back.

The panda enclosure operated normally after the attack, the official said. Gu Gu was seen snacking on bamboo later in the afternoon, The Beijing News said.

Indecent Proposal

A 60-year-old farmer was so determined to marry a 28-year-old estate worker in Malaysia he kidnapped her when she turned down his proposal, police said Monday.

The farmer forced the woman into his car while she was walking home from work in eastern Terengganu state.

"The family had initially agreed (to the marriage), but she did not want to go ahead with it. That angered him," K. Manoharan told The Associated Press.

A friend of the woman witnessed her abduction Thursday and told police, who contacted the man's family to persuade him to free her. Several hours later, the woman was released unharmed and the farmer surrendered to police, K. Manoharan said.

"He changed his mind when he knew police were looking for him," he said.

Key Largo - Montego

Not content to carve their pumpkins in the traditional way, several divers carved jack-o'-lanterns more than 30 feet below the ocean's surface.

"The pumpkins want to float, so that makes it difficult," Jen Pao said. "So you're working against your own buoyancy and the pumpkin's."

Some contestants dropped a weight inside their pumpkins to keep them on the bottom. Then they sliced and pared to create their entries alongside yellowtail snapper and other fish.

The contest was staged about five miles off Key Largo.

Monkey Knife Fight

Wild monkeys attacked a senior government official who then fell from a balcony at his home and died Sunday, media reported.

New Delhi Deputy Mayor S.S. Bajwa was rushed to a hospital after the attack by a gang of Rhesus macaques, but succumbed to head injuries sustained in his fall, the Press Trust of India news agency and The Times of India reported.

Many government buildings, temples and residential neighborhoods in New Delhi are overrun by Rhesus macaques, which scare passers-by and occasionally bite or snatch food from unsuspecting visitors.

Part of the problem is that devout Hindus believe monkeys are manifestations of the monkey god Hanuman and feed them bananas and peanuts, encouraging them to frequent public places.

Over the years, city authorities have employed monkey catchers who use langurs, a larger and fiercer kind of monkey, to scare or catch the macaques, but the problem persists.

Shaw, 75, and her husband, Don, say they had an appointment in August for a Comcast technician to come to their Bristow home to install the company's heavily advertised Triple Play phone, Internet and cable service.

The Shaws say no one came all day, and the technician who showed up two days later left without finishing the setup. Two days after that, Comcast cut off all their service.

At the Comcast office in Manassas the next day, they waited for a manager for two hours before being told the manager had left for the day, the Shaws say.

Shaw returned the next Monday, with a hammer.

"I smashed a keyboard, knocked over a monitor ... and I went to hit the telephone," Shaw said. "I figured, 'Hey, my telephone is screwed up, so is yours.'"

She received a three-month suspended sentence, was fined $345 and and is barred from going near the Comcast offices for a year. The Shaws did eventually get phone and television service , with Verizon and DirecTV.

Stick Your Finger In There...

Wal-Mart Worker 'Fingered' in Oval Table

A little goofing off during a break from work led to a time-consuming, embarrassing ordeal for a Wal-Mart employee. Authorities said the man got his right index finger stuck in an oval-shaped hole of a cast-iron picnic table outside the store.

Co-workers tried in vain to help the man get free before help was summoned. A half-dozen firefighters and emergency workers responded.

They freed the man by cutting a square out of the tabletop, then slicing through the metal around his finger.

Friedel says the man told him it was an act of "stupidity."

Cup O' Murder

A woman bitter over her divorce asked her ex-husband's girlfriend to try to kill him by spiking his drink with cocaine, state police said.

Patricia A. Reiman knew her ex-husband, David, had a heart condition and believed spiking his drink with cocaine would cause "his heart to possibly explode and kill him," state Trooper Brad Eisenhower said.

'Rich Hudson' Valley?!?

A Hudson Valley homeowner says a neighbor attacked her lawn display, three inflatable ghosts and a pumpkin, then apparently smashed his head through her window in a pre-Halloween rage she finds mystifying.

State Police said officers found a drunken John Odee, 43, inside Dawn Garcia's house in the town of Lloyd on Thursday night, arrested him after a brief struggle and charged him with burglary. He was sent to Ulster County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

Garcia told the Middletown Times Herald-Record she heard hollering and swearing and looked outside to see Odee struggling with the inflatable decoration. "He was enraged. I could see that," she said.

When she yelled at him to go away, Odee charged the house. She fled through the back door with three of her children and heard window glass breaking. She called 911 from another neighbor's house. Police said Odee used his head to smash a window to get in.

Are Those Handcuffs Gucci?

Some fashion statements draw more attention than others, and wearing handcuffs while walking near the Tulsa County Courthouse is one that got noticed.

A man wearing a pair of handcuffs on one wrist drew the attention of passersby Friday, who contacted law officers. But it turns out it was just his idea of a fashion statement, said sheriff's Sgt. Jody Britt.

The man, whose name was not released, was wearing "goth" clothing, with one end of the handcuffs on his wrist and the other end dangling, making it appear as if he had escaped custody, Britt said.

"Wearing a set of handcuffs near a courthouse is not exactly the most intelligent thing you could do," Britt said.

Do Me A Favor?

A man who was apparently worried about a random drug test asked an 11-year-old boy at a mall for a urine sample.

White Plains Police say Marcos Delacruz, 42, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was arrested several hours after the incident in the men's room at the mall on Wednesday.

Deputy Public Safety Commissioner Daniel Jackson said Delacruz took the sample to his appointment with his probation officer.

The 11-year-old boy told his mother that a man in the men's room had asked him to urinate in a bottle. The mom called police and the boy described the man.

Jackson said the officers contacted local probation, parole and court offices and found Delacruz who had an appointment at the Westchester County Probation Department.

White Smoke. Black Pope.

This fiery figure is being hailed as Pope John Paul II making an appearance beyond the grave.

The image, said by believers to show the Holy Father with his right hand raised in blessing, was spotted during a ceremony in Poland to mark the second anniversary of his death.

Service director Jarek Cielecki, a Polish priest and close friend of John Paul II, travelled to Poland after hearing an onlooker had photographed the image.

Father Cielecki said he was convinced the picture showed the former pontiff. "You can see the image of a person in the flames and I think it is the servant of God, Pope John Paul II," he said.

The bonfire was lit during a service at Beskid Zywiecki, close to John Paul's birthplace at Katowice, southern Poland, on April 2 - the second anniversary of his death.

We Pillage, We Plunder...

Maritime pirate attacks worldwide shot up 14 percent in the first nine months of 2007 from a year earlier, with Somalia and Nigeria showing the biggest increases, an international watchdog said Tuesday.
.
A total of 198 attacks on ships were reported between January and September this year, up from 174 in the same period in 2006, the IMB said. It said a total of 15 vessels were hijacked, 63 crew kidnapped and three killed.

"If this current trend continues, it would appear that the decline in piracy attacks since 2004 has bottomed out," it warned.

Indonesia remained the world's worst piracy hotspot, with 37 attacks in the first nine months of 2007 — but that was an improvement from 40 in the same period a year earlier, the IMB said.

Robo Pop

"My forecast is that around 2050, the state of Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize marriages with robots," artificial intelligence researcher David Levy at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands told LiveScience.

At first, sex with robots might be considered geeky, "but once you have a story like 'I had sex with a robot, and it was great!' appear someplace like Cosmo magazine, I'd expect many people to jump on the bandwagon," Levy said.

"It may sound a little weird, but it isn't," Levy said. "Love and sex with robots are inevitable."

In 2006, Henrik Christensen, founder of the European Robotics Research Network, predicted that people will be having sex with robots within five years, and Levy thinks that's quite likely. "The question is not if this will happen, but when," Levy said. "I am convinced the answer is much earlier than you think."

Levy predicts Massachusetts will be the first jurisdiction to legalize human-robot marriage."Massachusetts is more liberal than most other jurisdictions in the United States and has been at the forefront of same-sex marriage," Levy said. "There's also a lot of high-tech research there at places like MIT."

"Cannibalistic Instincts"

An aspiring horror novelist was arrested after police discovered his girlfriend's torso in his closet, a leg in the refrigerator and bones in a cereal box, the city prosecutor's spokesman said Thursday.

Nearby they found the draft of a novel titled "Cannibalistic Instincts," said the official, who spoke on customary condition of anonymity.

Jose Luis Calva told police he had boiled some of his girlfriend's flesh but that he hadn't eaten it, the spokesman said.

Police had come to Calva's apartment Monday to investigate the disappearance of his girlfriend, Alejandra Galeana, a 30-year-old pharmacy clerk and single mother, according to the prosecutor's office. Calva tried to escape when officers entered his apartment, but was struck by a car.

ForeArm - ThreeEar

Performance artists are known for pushing the bounderies, but one Australian has astonished his contemporaries by having a third ear implanted onto his arm.

The Cypriot-born eccentric Stelios Arcadious spent 10 years searching for a surgeon willing to perform the controversial operation.

He got his wish after working as a Research Fellow at Nottingham Trent University's Digital Research Unit. The ear was grown in a lab from cells and implanted into the 61-year-olds left forearm in 2006.

Mr Arcadious said he thought art "should be more than simply illustrating ideas." Once the ear has fully developed he hopes to get a microphone implanted as well. "I hope to have a tiny microphone implanted to it that will connect with a bluetooth transmitter; that way you can listen to what my ear is hearing."

Siesta - Foreva

Police say a 26-year-old St. Louis Park man was asleep at the wheel of his pickup as it drove down the street before dawn on Sunday.

He didn't wake when the truck crossed the centerline, or when an officer ran up and jumped on the running board, reached inside and put the truck in neutral.

The criminal complaint said Pedro Fernando Brito, 26, was undisturbed when the officer stopped the truck and pulled out the keys.

Then the officer got his attention. "Police had to shake the defendant's shoulder and yell at him to wake him up," the complaint said.

8 Heads In A Duffel Bag

A brain was found in a bag near an apartment complex Tuesday morning, but it wasn't clear if it was human or animal, police said. It was discovered in an area next to a suburban Richmond apartment complex under construction and near a mall, Richmond police spokeswoman Karla Peters said.

The state medical examiner was examining the brain, she said. It wasn't clear how long it had been there.
"We're waiting for the medical examiner to determine how we should proceed," Peters said.

Cow Pie

A Cambodian cow was taken into police custody for causing traffic accidents that resulted in the deaths of at least six people this year, a police official said Tuesday.

The cow's owner could also face a six-month prison term under a new traffic law that holds people responsible for accidents caused by their animals, said Pin Doman, a police chief on the outskirts of Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh.

The white, 5-foot tall cow was standing in the middle of a main road Monday night when a 66-year-old motorcyclist crashed into the animal and died. Most Cambodian roads are dark at night.

Earlier this year, the same cow was responsible for another traffic accident that resulted in the death of five people and several injuries, when a truck veered off the road and crashed as its driver tried to avoid the animal.

Pin Doman said he was holding the cow at his police station.

Urine Jail

Cynthia Hunter spent almost two months in jail over a vial of cat urine. Hunter, 38, was arrested Aug. 15 on a charge of petty theft after she was accused of stealing from a Wal-Mart store.

Deputies added charges of possession of a controlled substance after finding a vial containing a yellow substance in her purse. A drug field test suggested the substance was methamphetamine, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Hunter had protested, saying the substance was dehydrated cat urine for her son's science project and that it had been purchased at an animal clinic. She was released Thursday after lab tests found the substance was, in fact, cat urine.

Detective Comics No. 27

A near-mint copy of Detective Comics No. 27, a pre-World War II comic featuring Batman's debut, was recently found in an attic and sold to a local collector.

The comic is considered to be the second-most valuable available and can fetch up to $500,000. The only comic considered more valuable is Action Comics No. 1, in which Superman makes his first appearance.

Collector Todd McDevitt said the Batman issue he bought is worth about $250,000, but he won't say exactly how much he paid or who sold it to him.

Experts estimate there are between 20 and a few hundred copies of the Batman debut.

VIP Barbershop

Authorities said an Allentown barbershop was offering more than buzz cuts.

In fact, they said it was the center of a drug ring that trafficked an estimated $5 million worth of cocaine over the past year.

Undercover agents purchased about $40,000 worth of cocaine over the course of several trips to the VIP Barbershop in Allentown, State Attorney General Tom Corbett said.

Authorities also placed wiretaps on cell phones.

Agents wound up searching eight properties and seizing 9 kilograms of cocaine with an estimated street value of $1.1 million, according to authorities. They also seized more than 53 pounds of marijuana and 10 firearms.

PIVO 2

Japan's Nissan Motor Co. on Friday unveiled a new version of its egg-shaped Pivo concept car that can drive sideways and has a small robot to assist with navigation or calm down angry drivers.

The Pivo 2 three-seater electric car has wheels that can turn 90 degrees for easy parallel parking.

Like its predecessor, which was unveiled two years ago, the new Pivo has a cabin able to revolve 360 degrees, eliminating the need to reverse.

A round-eyed robot head sitting on the dashboard has cameras that can tell when a driver is getting sleepy. "You look tired. There's a coffee shop 500 metres ahead on the left," it told a driver with drooping eyelids during a recent demonstration.

The Pivo 2 will be exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show near the capital from October 27.

Long Way Down

A 4-year-old girl on a vacation trip to the Grand Canyon died Tuesday after slipping off the canyon edge and falling several hundred feet.

The girl fell near Mather Point just before noon and her father immediately scrambled down the cliffs to reach her, National Park Service spokeswoman Maureen Oltrogge said.

He started CPR, and a Park Service ranger who rappelled down into the canyon also began trying to resuscitate the little girl.

A second ranger was lowered to the site by helicopter and determined the child was dead.

Nightmare On ____ Street

Twenty years ago, Loretta Winbun's 6-week-old daughter was killed as Winbun walked down the street and was hit by a car.

A few years later, in May 1991, Winbun herself was killed two blocks away when she jumped out of a car and was hit by another vehicle.

Monday night Winbun's son, Bradley, 19, who friends called Portland Gene, died at the same spot when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car full of college students. A passenger in the car was also killed.

"I couldn't believe it. I really couldn't,” said a witness, Shannon Erhart. “To think that both mother and son...we were out here the night the mother was killed. It's unbelievable. It really is.”

“She called and she said ‘Gene’s dead and he’s laying in the street,’” Cynthia Winbun-Boyles said. “And I said ‘What?’ and she said ‘Gene’s laying dead in the street.’” Winbun-Boyles said that was exactly what she found when she arrived at the scene just before 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Booker? ...is that you?

More than two dozen employees at Palisades Medical Center have been suspended after accessing the personal medical records of actor George Clooney, who was taken to the North Bergen, N.J., hospital last month after a motorcycle accident.

Clooney was injured, along with his companion Sarah Larson, when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car in Weehawken, N.J. Clooney suffered a broken rib and skin abrasions and Larson broke her foot.

Hospital spokesman Eurice Rojas said late Tuesday that 27 employees were suspended for a month without pay, after an internal investigation. Accessing a person's medical records without authorization is a violation of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) -- a federal law that protects the privacy of patients.

Mexican't

After a humiliating defeat in Mexico's presidential election last year, Roberto Madrazo appeared to be back on top: He'd won the men's age-55 category in the Sept. 30 Berlin marathon with a surprising time of 2:41:12.

But Madrazo couldn't leave his reputation for shady dealings in the dust. Race officials said Monday they disqualified him for apparently taking a short cut -- an electronic tracking chip indicates he skipped two checkpoints in the race and would have needed superhuman speed to achieve his win.

According to the chip, Madrazo took only 21 minutes to cover nine miles -- faster than any human can run. "Not even the world record holder can go that fast," race director Mark Milde said.

In a photograph taken as he crossed the finish line, Madrazo wore a wind breaker, hat and long, skintight running pants -- too much clothing, some said, for a person who had just run 26.2 miles in 60-degree weather.

"It was so obvious to me, if you look at everyone else that's in the picture, everyone's wearing T-shirts and shorts, and the guy's got a jacket on and a hat or whatever," Sailer said. "I looked at it and was like, wait a second."

The world record for 15 kilometers -- the distance Madrazo covered in 21 minutes -- is 41 minutes 29 seconds, by Felix Limo of Kenya.

Czech That Baby

A young Czech Republic couple found out 10 months after their daughter was born that the baby they brought home from the hospital was not theirs.

The father secretly took a paternity test after his friends picked on him because the girl did not look like him.

It turned out they were right; the child was not his.

The mother insisted the baby had to be his, but her own DNA test proved she wasn't the mother, either.

It turned out that they were given the wrong baby at the hospital when she was born.

The other couple in the situation has been identified and both couples have agreed to return the children to each other.

Change For A Million?

That's what a man was seeking Saturday when he handed a $1 million bill to a cashier at a Pittsburgh supermarket. But when the Giant Eagle employee refused and a manager confiscated the bogus bill, the man flew into a rage, police said.

Police believe the $1 million note seized at the supermarket may have originated at a Dallas-based ministry. Last year, the ministry distributed thousands of religious pamphlets with a picture of President Grover Cleveland on a $1 million bill.

Cleveland is actually pictured on the $1,000 bill. Since 1969, the $100 bill is the largest note in circulation.

The largest note ever printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing was for $100,000 and pictured Woodrow Wilson. It never appeared in general circulation, and was only used in transactions between Federal Reserve banks.

RoboBug

Witnesses are buzzing about recent sightings of robotic-looking dragonflies seen at Washington and New York political events. And U.S. government and private agencies have admitted to striving for the spy technology, The Washington Post reports, though no one has confessed to deploying the bugged bugs.

"They looked kind of like dragonflies or little helicopters," New York college student Vanessa Alarcon said after seeing the dragonflies while working at an antiwar rally in Lafayette Square last month.

The U.S. has used robotic fliers as early as World War II, but their numbers were fewer and the technology more primitive.

"I'd never seen anything like it in my life," Washington lawyer Bernard Crane said. "They were large for dragonflies. I thought, 'Is that mechanical, or is that alive?'"

Some federally funded groups are implanting live insects with computer chips in hopes using spyware and remote controls to manipulate their flight.
